About the Presenters:
Cynthia J. Armour, CFRE
Cynthia J. Armour, CFRE (since 1995) is principal of Elderstone Resource Development and a facilitator, trainer and coach to voluntary sector leaders. Last year she was Project Manager of the Charity Law Information Program (CLIP) funded by Canada Revenue Agency’s Charities Partnership and Outreach Program. Her role this year is lead fundraising trainer.
An honours graduate of York University’s Voluntary Sector Management Program, she brings a
life-long learning perspective to her nonprofit research and work. Cynthia is an adult educator
who specializes in governance, fundraising and marketing. She is recognized for her expertise with small and rural charities while offering solutions to organizations of every size.

Andrea McManus, CFRE
Andrea McManus is President of The Development Group. With over 26 years of experience in fundraising, marketing and communications she has had the opportunity to help build the fundraising capacity of many organizations throughout Canada and the Bahamas. She holds the accreditation of CFRE and was one of the first professionals in Calgary to receive this accreditation.
A leader in the nonprofit sector locally, nationally and internationally, Andrea is currently Chair Elect of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) International Board and will be the first international chair of that organization in 2010 and 2011. She is a former President of the Calgary Chapter, was founding chair of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy Canada and chair of the AFP Canadian Council. Andrea is a member of both the Imagine Canada Ethical Code Advisory Committee and CRA’s Charities Technical Issues Working Group.
Andrea was recognized by the Calgary Chapter for her contributions to the profession as the inaugural recipient of its Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award for 2007. She is an AFP Master Teacher and speaks frequently at conferences and workshops in Canada. Andrea is also a contributing author to “Management of Nonprofit and Charitable Organizations in Canada”, the first book published on this topic specifically targeted to Canadian nonprofit organizations which has just been released in its second revised, is currently in the process of contributing chapters to two new books and is a peer reviewer for Charity Channel.
